Docland

I post some photo of neighborhood.
I hope you can get some image of docland which we are now staying.
This area is still under re-development (even main part of the town has been already completed)
and is surrounded by Thames river.
These feture recalls us those newly developed cities facing Tokyo Bay.
So we often describe it as Odaiba or Toyosu.


I'd say docland has neo-futuristic view.

You may notice that "Docland" named after DOC, the place ships build.
Now that function seems to be discontinued.
But some memories are left around the place as icon or design of the town.

ご近所の写真を載せてみます。
私たちの住んでいるドックランドというエリアのイメージが多少なりとも伝わるとよいのですが。
このエリアは再開発中です（町の中心部は完成しています）
そしてテムズ川に囲まれたエリアでもあります。
この特徴が東京湾に面した再開発都市を思い起こさせるので
我々はよく、豊洲・お台場のようだと言っています。
近未来的な風景の街です。


ドックランドの名前から気がついたかもしれませんが
元はドック＝造船所のあった土地柄です。
もう船は作っていないようですが
そこここに町の象徴として（だと思う）遺産が残っています。
